Strategic Plan
We are pleased to officially announce that San Gabriel Mission High School has launched a strategic planning process that will result in the development of a new 2024-2029 Strategic Plan. We are sunsetting our 2019-2023 Strategic Plan which guided our leadership to grow and stabilize our school in the following areas:
- Student enrollment has stabilized and new student retention programs have been introduced such as our successful Student Wellness program.
- Since 2019, we have expanded our program to include the ADLA Early College Network, Enrichment Courses, and continue to provide the AP Capstone program.
- Our leadership team has recruited a strong team of educators, 98% of our faculty have their Master's degree or multiple masters degrees.
- Between the launch of our Strategic Plan to date, our campus has renovated its Auditorium floors, painted the building, a new layout and landscaping and patio furniture of the outdoor benching areas, new security doors, new plumbing in our older student restrooms, water bottle filling stations on all floors, locker room remodeled, cafeteria eating area updated, dropped the ceilings in the second floor, new roof for the entire building, reinforced beams in the auditorium, a/c and heater added to the library, new a/c units in our older classrooms. We also have new technology, and updated iPad infrastructure for our faculty and 9th graders.
- 2019 kicked off our first annual Gala and we continue to organize creative community events and campaigns to bring new financial opportunities for our students and families in need.
A diverse team has already begun to meet to begin the first phases of developing a new strategic plan to ensure the future of the Mission continues to honor the vision of its founders. The strategic planning process includes several phases that are necessary to identify the institutional goals that will be the focus of Mission’s growth over the next five years.
In addition, we have appointed members to a Strategic Planning Steering Committee consisting of 12 individuals who are community partners and stakeholders. The steering committee is chaired by Jeff Gonzalez, P'11, '14, '21. As part of the initial phase of the strategic planning process, the steering committee was asked to review current conditions at San Gabriel Mission High School in each of the following domains, which represent core aspects of our mission and purpose as a Catholic School:
- Catholic Identity
- Enrollment
- Community
- Staffing
- Guidance and Counseling
- Curriculum
- Advancement
- Facilities
- Finance
- Governance and Administration
- Technology
- Student Life
We are still accepting new members for the larger committee which we hope will meet this summer to help us make goals for our future. If you are interested please contact us. We would like to thank all those who have assisted us up to this point. As we continue with our planning, we will be inclusive and transparent throughout the process and provide updates as they are available. I thank each of you for your continued support for San Gabriel Mission High School and look forward to sharing the final plan with you soon!
Blessings!
