Drawing and Painting - This course covers the basic concepts of the visual arts, including the elements of design and composition. Emphasis is on acquiring skills and techniques necessary in various media including (pencil, pen and charcoal pencils , conté crayon, colored pencils, watercolor or tempera, oil pastel and acrylics) in order to develop student own unique style. Students will be introduced to the technics of collage influenced by the work of famous artist like Matisse and Picasso. A survey of art history and the development of an aesthetic awareness are also included. Your final will be based on all concepts learned this year via sketchbook, timed artwork, as well as your portfolio. The course will culminate in an open to all art classes exhibition in late March early April.

Each student have to have  at least 4 canvases.
You could combine two students together and buy from Michels a package of 7.

Art supplies you have to buy for the second semester:
We will start with watercolor projects. Be prepared.!
  • Watercolor's brushes. ( you will need from 5 to 7 different shapes of brushes- good quality)
  • Plastic palette ( to mix the paint).
  • Scotch painter's blue masking tape.
  • Oil Pastels (small boxes) - at least 12 pastels better 24 in the box.
  • 3 Canvas Panels (12x12 inches)
More and important information for you:
I can give you watercolors and acrilyc paint. However if you need more acrylic colors and better quality you have to buy yourself.
I don't have good brushes. This is something you should buy during the vacation.
i don't have oil pastels. You should buy.
i have watercolor paper, no need to buy.
i have big canvases, but you should buy at least 3 canvases 12x12 inches.
