Course Description

 

Drawing and Painting - This course covers the basic concepts of the visual arts, including the elements of design and composition. Emphasis is on acquiring skills and techniques necessary in various media including (pencil, pen and charcoal pencils , conté crayon, colored pencils, watercolor or tempera, oil pastel and acrylics) in order to develop student own unique style. Students will be introduced to the technics of collage influenced by the work of famous artist like Matisse and Picasso. A survey of art history and the development of an aesthetic awareness are also included. Your final will be based on all concepts learned this year via sketchbook, timed artwork, as well as your portfolio. The course will culminate in an open to all art classes exhibition in late March early April.
