The rigor of the Mission curriculum challenges our students to perform to their best potential. Our goal is ensure that all students receive the support they need to be successful. Therefore, students have access to various forms of tutoring offered at SGMHS.
- Each faculty member offers tutoring hours on certain days between M- F
- Peer tutoring is offered by our National Honor Society (NHS)
- Our Librarian, Ms. Disney offers tutoring in English by appointment
Grades & Family Connection Portals: Naviance & Aeries
Aeries is a system the school has in place for parents to check their daughter’s grades, attendance, graduation status, student and parent hours. Students and parents will each have their own Aeries accounts. All families will need to create a new account which requires an email address. Detailed instructions are posted below and directions will also be given at Back to School night. You will need your student's Permanent ID number, home phone number and Verification Code to create an account. If you have any questions, please contact Ms. Padilla at firstname.lastname@example.org
Naviance is a system the school has in place for families to access Family Connection. Family Connection provides a powerful link between school and home with a customized, secure website that support planning and advising at your school. Family Connection helps students and parents make better decisions about courses, college opportunities, and career plans. An account is required per student to access Aries and Naviance. If you don’t have an account, please contact Ms. Padilla at email@example.com
The SGMHS library is one of our most cherished places on campus. With its beautiful Mission architecture, cozy Juliet balcony, and vast collection of books, students can enjoy this space any day during the school week. In addition, our librarian Ms. Disney, class of 1971, offers English tutoring for all students.
The library features:
Plenty of work space for students to complete group or individual projects
Charging stations on the second floor for all devices
Occasional guest speakers
Displays of student art work
We believe that it is important to prepare our students to use technology as stewards of digital citizenship. Tech devices are tools that help students foster academic, social and personal connections.
The school is equipped with WiFi to provide for the needs of all students and faculty. Students receive their access code in the beginning of the year.
E-Books & 1:1 Technology Devices
At Mission, all students are expected to bring their own tablet to be used in the classroom. Most textbooks used in the classrooms are electronic and are to be downloaded into the student’s devices. The teachers also have students access other educational apps that will benefit their learning process.
Google Apps for Education (GAFE)
Google Apps for Education (GAFE) is a core suite of productivity applications that Google offers to schools and educational institutions for FREE. These communication and collaboration apps include Gmail, Calendar, Drive, Docs and Sites, and a GAFE account unlocks access to dozens of other collaborative tools supported by Google. All of these applications exist completely online (or in the cloud), meaning that all creations can be accessed from any device with an Internet connection. Once a school decides to embrace Google Apps for Education, they can register their school domain (web address), and administer all teacher and student accounts from an administrative dashboard. All SGMHS students are given a school email that is theirs to use for life. This will be the primary source of contact between students and teachers outside of school hours. Once the student graduates SGMHS, they will continue to access their email account and will be contacted for alumni events via their SGMHS email.
The computer lab is located on the main floor of our campus. All students have access to the lab during the lab hours. The lab is open during all breaks and after school. They can also print and make copies with the computer lab moderator. Students should refer to the schedule posted at the computer lab.
Each classroom is equipped with SMART Board technology. SMART Boards are digital whiteboards that help students connect in the classroom and outside the classroom as well.
Media Studies is a course that Mission students can take as upper class women. Students have access to all tools that aid in their learning process of producing films. Such tools include Mac computers, digital cameras and video recorders, and green screen technology.
Attending a school with a smaller student body allows better communication between teachers, parents, and students. Our teachers are dedicated to ensuring that each student is receiving the attention they need. To strengthen this communication, each of our faculty and staff members is provided with a school email they can use to contact parents and students. Their email address can be found on their staff page.
Parents are welcome to contact their daughters teacher to schedule a meeting or to discuss assignments and grades.
Students can contact their teachers outside of school hours via email or class apps.
