Principal's Message
Dear Family and Friends of San Gabriel Mission High School (SGMHS),
Since 1949, San Gabriel Mission High School has been a transformative place where young women grow in faith, knowledge, and leadership. Rooted in the rich Catholic tradition and located on the historic grounds of California’s fourth mission, we are proud to be an all-girls Catholic high school guided by the charism of the Dominican Sisters of San Jose, in partnership with the Claretian Fathers and the Archdiocese of Los Angeles.
As faith-centered educational leaders, we are deeply committed to nurturing a safe and supportive environment where each young woman is empowered to flourish spiritually, intellectually, creatively, and athletically. We believe that true education forms the whole person, cultivating minds, hearts, and souls to become compassionate leaders and active participants in the Church and the world.
Our students are called to strive for excellence—not only in the classroom but also through active participation in athletics, the arts, and community service. High standards are essential to our mission. We expect our young women to present themselves with dignity, respect others, and take full ownership of their learning and growth. These expectations foster confidence, responsibility, and a deep sense of purpose.
At the heart of our community is our cherished school motto:
“Come as strangers, leave as sisters.”
This simple phrase reflects the enduring bonds of sisterhood and faith that unite every Mission Pioneer.
Our goal is to ensure that each student entrusted to our care is equipped to shape her future with courage, compassion, and conviction.
We invite you to be part of the Mission family.
Mrs. Michelle Sarmiento-Deary
Principal, San Gabriel Mission High School
