SGMHS Senior UPenn Bound

San Gabriel Mission High School is pleased to announce that Lei Sherry Wang, Class of 2017, has been accepted to Ivy League University of Pennsylvania. She is planning on pursuing a major in Physics, while studying Quantum Mechanics and Astronomy. Ms. Wang is most interested in the Nano/bio interface center. She hopes to work with students to use physics to explain the phenomenon of lipid bilayers unique movement and directly apply the concept in biological design of molecular function.

Ms. Wang is an international student from Shanghai, China. An only child, she chose SGMHS because of its rich history. She began attending SGMHS as a freshman, and at that time she attended a Summer Leadership/Business Program at the University of Pennsylvania. After completing the program, Sherry decided this was the university she wanted to attend. She explained she loved the innovation and various activities available to students and she was inspired that at UPenn they think out of the box. The environment and rhythm of the city captivated her and she knew this was the university for her.
