Transcript of Weekly Announcement ( 9/30/2011 )

September 30, 2011

Good Evening Mission families,

This is Mrs. Overley with your weekly announcements.

Today, our sophomore juniors, and seniors participated in the college field trip day. The sophomores went to Loyola Marymount University, the juniors went to Cal State Long Beach and the seniors went to the University of Irvine. The benefit of visiting the colleges was to introduce the students to the many aspects of college life. They had a wonderful time and now have a better idea of what college life is like. They were also reunited with some of their former Mission sisters as they were the tour guide for the visits.

Today our ninth graders made their first retreat as a class which focused on the value and care they give their friendship with themselves, each other, and God.  “Two Are Better Than One” was the theme and we pray that our freshmen become friends and graduate sisters that honor and treasure one another.  Thank you to all the freshmen who really were open to this experience as well as our LIFErs under the direction of Ms. Collier who made this retreat meaning and fun.  God Bless you class of 2015!

Join us in celebrating the feast of Mary, Queen of the Holy Rosary, as the seniors lead us in praying the Living Rosary on October 6 at 12:30 in the Auditorium.

Thursday and Friday are early dismissal due to IOWA testing.  This is a school day and students are required to be in attendance.  All appointments must be schedules outside of the school day.  Students who are absent on Thursday and Friday must make up the tests at a later date.

The volleyball and cross country teams opened their seasons this week against Bishop Conaty-Loretta and Sacred Heart. Their hard work and dedication was witnessed as they fought hard in on the volleyball court and on the cross country course. Next week the volleyball team travels to Alverno on Thursday, and the Cross Country travels to Crescenta Valley Park to run against Holy Family. Come and support both the cross country and volleyball teams.

To all families who participated in the dinner at the Diner on Main Street, A BIG thank you for all your support for the volleyball and cross country teams. It was a success and we are looking forward to having more fund raisers at the “Diner” this school year.

Thank you and have a Blessed weekend.
