Through a variety of rhetorical contexts and purposes, students will become skilled readers of prose. By reading and writing throughout this course students will learn to interpret the interactions among writer’s purposes, reader’s expectations, genre conventions, and rhetoric as they pertain to effective writing. The heart of the AP Language and Composition course lies in the reading of various texts, creating informed and critically thinking citizens.  These skills will lead students into consequential conversations regarding meaningful issues. Students will also learn to gather materials and information from a variety of sources for their reading and writing work in this course, in order to facilitate intellectual growth. Enrolling in the course does not mean you will be invited to take the AP exam for this class. Teachers will send out invitations to take the  AP exam by Thursday November 15, 2018. If you are invited to take the exam, you must pay the AP fee and sit for the exam in May 2019. AP fees are due to Mrs. Sosa by Friday January 18, 2019.
