Drawing & Painting (Period 4)

Course Description

 This course covers the basic concepts of the visual arts, including the elements of design and composition. Emphasis is on acquiring skills and techniques necessary in various media including (pencil, pen and charcoal pencils , conté crayon, colored pencils, watercolor or tempera, oil pastel and acrylics) in order to develop student own unique style.Students will be introduced to the technics of collage influenced by the work of famous artist like Matisse and Picasso. A survey of art history and the development of an aesthetic awareness are also included. Your final will be based on all concepts learned this year via sketchbook, timed artwork, as well as your portfolio.

The course will culminate in an open to all art classes exhibition in late March early April.

Art Show 2016

"Art and Cup of Tea" - In 2010 Mrs. Heilweil started an Art Show at SGMHS  known as "Art and Cup of Tea." This promising Art-Exhibition tradition continues today under her leadership and takes place each year in April- May. This year (2016) the exhibition also includes 3-D art, sculptures and installations from recycling materials and they are central pieces of the art show. In addition a table was set with the art pieces of faculty members from SGMHS. Lastly this is the first year with individual presentations of IB visual arts students work.
