Course Description

Course Description:  The Advanced Placement European History class is equivalent to a college freshmen level course. It is specifically designed to prepare students for the AP European history test administered by the College Board each May. This rigorous course requires true dedication and effort. This course will not only explore major themes in European history (Renaissance – Present), but will also strengthen student’s historical thinking and effective writing skills. Interpretation of both primary and secondary sources will be stressed, and class participation is expected. Methods of instruction include interactive power point presentations, discussion, document analysis, and in class essays (Long Essay, Document Based Essay). Please note that participation in the AP exam is mandatory for those enrolled in the class, and as stated in the handbook, "Any student enrolled in an AP course that receives a C- or below at semester will not earn AP credit." There is always homework to be completed in an AP class; whether it is chapter reading, or written work.  Also, Please be aware that we may hold afterschool sessions throughout the year
