Description

This course is designed as an introduction to some of the main problems, techniques, and insights of philosophy as articulated in various readings from the classical eras and contemporary issues/sources. The purpose of the course is to assist students in developing awareness and capability to think abstractly; that is, the course aims to teach the student how to think philosophically and to clearly articulate philosophical thought.

Students will attain problem solving and critical thinking skills by investigating various philosophical discussions pertaining to: truth, God, reality, knowledge, personal identity, human nature, freedom/determinism, and the nature of one’s ethical and political belief system.
