Myth test: greek goddess/god; 4 creation stories, 6 greek stories from skits, Pandora, Echo story, Hercules, and Oedipus.  

 

Remember the literary devices of archetypes, including the different types of archetypes, hero's journey and purpose for heroes, and allusions.  Know how to write an analytical paragraph based around the allusions, especially for the Eurydice poem.

Read Hercules and Oedipus story; use a story board to help you understand the story.

Make 14 flashcards for the following gods/goddesses

Major gods: Aphrodite, Apollo, Ares, Zeus, Hera, Hermes, Hades, Artemis, Athena, Demeter, Poseidon.

Minor gods: Nemesis, Eros, Nike

Front side: Roman and Greek name of god/goddess; pasted or drawn image of god/ goddess representation. (The representation can be a movie character you associate with the god.  For example, I associate Artemis with Katniss from the Hunger Games)

Back side: Answers the following questions-

1. Who is the god/ goddess related to (parents. siblings)? You can just mention the important ones.
2. What power does the god/ goddess have?
3. Is the god/ goddess a patron of something (example: sailors, musicians...)?
4. Does the god/ goddess have a symbol that represents them or an object they hold (example: a lightening bolt is a symbol for Zeus)?
5. Is the god/ goddess' name or an aspect of them referenced in modern day (For example, Venus is a razor sold in stores and is also the goddess of love)?

During enrichment please bring the following in your paper bag: 1 thing to symbolize/describe their family, 1 thing to symbolize/describe their interests/passion, 1 thing to describe a sport they like or an instrument they play and 1 thing to describe their past. If they don't have an item to represent one of these things, they may draw it on the bag. They can add any extra things in there that are special to them and that they want to share with their class.
