This is a guided writing-based course designed to further develop critical thinking, reading, writing, and oral skills, as well as the exploration of literary composition. Students will read and analyze a variety of literary genres and selections will be taken from classical myths, novels, poems, and short stories. Honors courses will be required to write an additional research paper 5-7 pages long as well as a 10 minute presentation on their topic at the end of the year. Students must also meet with me periodically to work on their essay.

- Who is the god/ goddess related to (parents. siblings)? You can just mention the important ones.
- What power does the god/ goddess have?
- Is the god/ goddess a patron of something (example: sailors, musicians...)?
- Does the god/ goddess have a symbol that represents them or an object they hold (example: a lightening bolt is a symbol for Zeus)?
- Is the god/ goddess' name or an aspect of them referenced in modern day (For example, Venus is a razor sold in stores and is also the goddess of love)?
