Description
This course covers the basic concepts of the three-dimensional art form and sculpture. Emphasis is on acquiring skills and techniques necessary in various media, including paper mache, assemblage, and clay sculpture. The students will become acquainted with the three-dimensional art form in its historical context and will develop an aesthetic awareness creating projects, which are designed to allow maximum individual growth and expression.  Your grade will be based on weekly projects and class participation.  This course is pass/no pass.

Polymer Clay Animal Sculpture: Using polymer clay sculpt an animal- mammal, reptile, bird, insect, etc. Must be baked and painted. Samples will be posted.

Attention: You have 1 week left in this class! Please make sure you use each period wisely and do not waste time! Your mandrake is due Dec 7. Please make sure to upload all missing projects before Dec 7. If you are finished with all of your projects you may use the time to study for finals.

In order to begin the Mandrake assignment you need to have submitted:
Polymer Halloween Pin
Polymer Sugar Skull
Polymer Animal
When you are ready I will give you:
Pot
Brown Clay (enough to make your Mandrake like the samples I made) 
Eyes 
Foil and paper towels.
Moss
Leaves and 1 silk flower. 
Note: if you lose or break your pot or eyes you will need to buy a replacement!!

I've attached two videos that may help and many samples. The first 4 samples are made by a professional, check out how much she sells them for on Etsy (instagram @griffith.gina) and the rest are mandrakes I made as samples/presents (make them nice, maybe they can be a Christmas present for someone).
All mandrakes will be on display till Feb (unless you are giving them to someone at Christmas)

Sculpture 2: Foam sculpture. This sculpture can be created from styrofoam, foam board, foam cups or plates, desert form, floral foam, etc. Please bring your supplies to class.

For class this coming week we will begin our first project, a paper sculpture. Please bring the following: Any paper products such as paper, tissue, toilet paper or paper towel rolls, cardboard, poster board, etc. You will also need glue. Come prepared to get your creative side of your brain working!Please come prepared, I will be deducting points for students that do not bring their supplies and that are not on task.
