Description

IB Film is a one year (SL) or two-year (HL) course that fulfills the arts component of the International Baccalaureate diploma program. The Diploma Programme film course aims to develop students’ skills so that they become adept in both interpreting and making film texts. Through the study and analysis of film texts and exercises in film making, the Diploma Programme film course explores film history, theory and socio-economic background. The course develops students’ critical abilities, enabling them to appreciate the multiplicity of cultural and historical perspectives in film. To achieve an international understanding within the world of film, students are taught to consider film texts, theories and ideas from the points of view of different individuals, nations and cultures. IB Film was recently selected as a finalist in the International Film Festival of Cinematic Arts- Los Angeles 2015. As well as having three films selected for the Action on Film Festival 2016.

You will have 4 weeks to complete these, my year 2 girls will need to burn them to CD. These official presentations will be due Feb 9. 10min SL, 15 min HL You will be turning an audio file.

Screenplay Profile
As part of your IB Film/Film Fest short movie I am including a sample of the next step that you will need to complete is the screenplay profile. The profile consists of two parts, character profiles of each major character in your movie, and an overview of your movie, giving a synopsis of your story, broken into the three acts and showing the interactions of the characters to each other. I attached the profile for the movie I wrote this summer for UCLA. It gives you an idea of what I am looking for and it might seem like a lot to write but keep in mind most of your movies are 5-7 min so your profile will be shorter. while your group will have one script, each member of the group will have to write their own profile (for portfolio purposes) This will be due Mon Oct 19. I attached the script I wrote so you can see how the profile helped to write the script. If you have any questions please ask :)

2 Page Individual Script.
Using Celtx, you will be creating a 2 page script using 2-5 characters. The script must have some sort of storyline and follow all script formatting. IB Film must also have a title page (not part of the two pages). This is an individual assignment, and is not part of your short film. If you are smart you will use this practice script as a way to practice story format. Must be saved in PDF format.

Create a short video telling the audience who your favorite director, what their style is like, genre(s), and name some of the movies that they directed. This is an individual Project.
