Student Leadership

Associated Student Body (ASB)

Student Government provides students with opportunities to develop leadership skills, foster school spirit, and strengthen collaboration between students, faculty, and administration. All San Gabriel Mission High School students are members of the Associated Student Body (ASB), which promotes student involvement through activities, service, and community-building events.

The Student Council serves as the representative governing body of the student community and is composed of ASB officers, class officers, and club presidents. Together, they work to:

  • Plan and coordinate school activities and events
  • Promote school spirit and student engagement
  • Represent student voices and concerns
  • Foster unity and understanding within the school community
  • Support school and class projects through fundraising efforts

Class Government

Each class elects officers who work alongside faculty moderators to organize class activities, build class spirit,

and represent the interests of their classmates throughout the school year.

Running for Student Office

Students interested in serving as ASB officers, class officers, or club leaders may run for office each spring. Election information, eligibility requirements, and important dates are announced annually and are available through the Director of Activities.

SMART Team

The SMART Team is a student leadership and mentorship program dedicated to helping freshmen feel welcomed, supported, and connected throughout their first year at San Gabriel Mission High School. Comprised of student leaders, faculty advisors, and peer mentors, the SMART Team fosters a positive and inclusive community where every student is encouraged to grow academically, socially, and personally.

SMART Team members serve as role models, offering guidance, encouragement, and friendship to incoming students. Through collaboration, trust, respect, and teamwork, SMART leaders help freshmen successfully transition into high school life while building meaningful relationships and school spirit.

SMART leaders, made up of juniors and seniors, play an active role in:

  • Leading New Student Orientation and welcoming incoming freshmen
  • Conducting academic check-ins and providing support throughout the year during advisement periods
  • Organizing social events and community-building activities such as movie nights, ice cream socials, field trips, and other special gatherings
  • Planning meetings, service opportunities, and fundraising activities that strengthen the Mission community

At its heart, the SMART Team is committed to ensuring that every student feels supported, valued, and part of the San Gabriel Mission High School family from day one.

Ambassador Program
