Dr. Callejas was raised in the city of El Monte and has lived in the San Gabriel Valley all of her life. She joined the San Gabriel Mission High School faculty during the 2011-2012 school year. She has worked as a secondary and post-secondary history instructor for the past 15 years.
A life- long learner, Dr. Callejas believes in continuous self-edification. She was the recipient of several competitive awards while a graduate student at California State University, Los Angeles. In 2009 -2010, she was named a CSU Sally Casanova Pre-Doctoral Scholar. In the Fall 2011, she completed a highly competitive faculty Internship for the Los Angeles Community College District (Project Match). That following summer, Dr. Callejas was one of 25 teachers chosen from across the country to participate in the Gilder Lerhman Institute of American History seminar at UC Irvine. She received her Doctorate in Educational Leadership from USC in 2016.
Dr. Callejas is a dedicated educator who is passionate about historical scholarship, education, and the belief that all students can achieve academic success through hard work, perseverance and opportunity.
