The English Department at San Gabriel Mission High School strives to produce well-rounded writers, readers and critics of literature who are fully prepared to succeed in college-level English courses. Seniors are required to write a research paper (2,000-3,000 words), in order to graduate. The process begins at the freshmen level, as students learn the intricacies of writing. Each year, writing and research knowledge is built upon, so students have the skills and confidence necessary to develop a strong research paper. Junior year, students choose their topic and begin their research.
