The Science Department strives to help students develop an appreciation for both the natural/physical world and the principles that guide it. Scientific inquiry stimulates curiosity, creativity, logical thought processes, and critical thinking. Integrating scientific thought with moral values, Mission students realize that in their search for Truth, they have a responsibility to be globally aware and active citizens.
Science students are expected to…
- Understand science is an ongoing process of learning and discovery.
- Demonstrate competence and confidence in scientific inquiry and experimental methods through hands-on lab techniques and the use of computers, calculators, and other forms of technology.
- Relate science concepts to real-world applications.
- Develop the ability to work both independently and cooperatively on various learning tasks, such as problem solving, research projects, lab activities, and inquiry-based investigations.
