Ms. Ramsey is excited to start teaching at San Gabriel Mission. A graduate of the all-girls Catholic High School, Rosary, Ms. Ramsey feels right at home here. She began teaching while still in high school at a performing arts studio. Teaching musical theatre and student-directing major performances first sparked Ms. Ramsey's interest in sharing her love of theatre with students. Earning a dual major in theatre arts and English furthered her love of storytelling. Ms. Ramsey went on to work in professional theatre in the LA-area. The Actor's Studio, Antaeus, Boston Court, and the Openfist (where she served as the Outreach and Education Director) are some of companies with which she had the pleasure of working. As a member of the faculty at West Los Angeles College and Mount St. Mary's University, Ms. Ramsey further honed her teaching skills. At the Mount she was able to create a theatre program bringing consistent Spring productions for the first time to the Chalon campus. Receiving a grant from the humanities department, she along with a team of professional actors presented Speed-Dating Shakespeare a month long workshop to teach the students how to perform Shakespeare. The past 5 years she has been working at Arroyo Pacific Academy teaching theatre arts, dance, English, and English Language Development as well as directing and technical directing the Fall and Spring Productions. Ms. Ramsey lives in Pasadena with her wonderful husband (also an educating artist) and her inimitable daughter.
We are the music-makers,
And we are the dreamers of dreams,
Wandering by lone sea-breakers,
And sitting by desolate streams.
World-losers and world-forsakers,
Upon whom the pale moon gleams;
Yet we are the movers and shakers,
Of the world forever, it seems.
