Campus Ministry
Campus Ministry and Christian Service
In the Mission San Jose Dominican Tradition of “The Search for Truth Together” Campus Ministry serves the school community by encouraging students to put into practice what is learned in the Religions classes. Whether challenging students to broaden their worldview in Christian service, addressing global issues from a Christian perspective, practicing their faith through liturgical experiences and retreats, or taking time to reflect on their relationships with God, self, and others, the student is able to benefit from the entire school community’s participation in a dynamic Campus Ministry Program.
Living in Faith Experience (LIFE)
Life is a Mission of San Jose Dominican sponsored organization composed of selected juniors and seniors known as LIFErs who live out Christian leadership ideals and skills in the spirit of Mother Pia and St. Dominic learned at their summer retreats. LIFErs are student Campus Ministers who help promote a positive spirit, Christian values, build the spiritual community at Mission, are good example of moral leadership, and help promote our MSJ Dominican charism. They also participate in liturgy planning, music ministry, and outreach to those in need.
Christian Service
In the spirit of the Gospel call to service, students are required to give a minimum of 25 hours per school year in donated service to someone in need and/or non-profit organizations. These services include programs that work with parishes, schools, the poor, elderly, disadvantaged, and the needy. Students completing 200 or more hours of Christian Service are eligible for an award at graduation.
