Principal’s Message
Dear Prospective Parents and Students:
It is with great pleasure that I introduce you to San Gabriel Mission High School. Since 1949, Mission has been a central part of the San Gabriel community. Steeped in a rich Dominican and Claretian tradition, as well as being located on the site of one of California’s historical Missions, our students avail themselvesĀ of an education that prepares them for the twenty-first century.
At Mission, we emphasize a balanced college preparatory and high school curriculum. With a teaching staff that is as varied as our students, our curriculum exceeds the expectations set forth by the University of California and the California State University systems. And with high matriculation rates, the young ladies of Mission High School attend local and national institutions of higher education, pursuing degrees and subsequently careers that benefit the communities from which they come.
However, Mission is not just an academic institution. Mission is a school where our young ladies can pursue extra-curricular activities that shape their character beyond the classroom walls. With an active campus ministry program, our girls are nourished spiritually, and are daily challenged to examine their relationship with God. Our participation in the Horizon League provides the students with the ability to compete in team and individual sports that promote athleticism and good sportsmanship. The sheer number of class and club activities ensures that the girls of Mission build a portfolio that would impress admissions teams at universities, as well as future employers.
Most importantly, Mission is a school that places family at its center. Being a school with a long tradition, we are proud of the many voices our parents, teachers, students, alumni and community members bring to our wonderful school. Mission is truly a dynamic place: a place where critical thinking is tempered with a desire to promote social justice; a place where intellectual stimulation manifests itself academically, spiritually, physically and socially. We are a prominent local Catholic institution that offers an education predicated upon excellence. Moreover, Mission is an all girls’ high school where the seeds of the present will become the fruits of our future.
It is my hope that as you peruse this website, you get some idea of what a Mission education can do for the young women of the Greater Los Angeles region. However, it is not a substitute for a personal visit. I invite you to make contact with us to see for yourself that Mission is, indeed, a place that is full of life. So, I invite you to observe classes, meet our wonderfully dedicated staff, and talk with students. I look forward to seeing you on campus.
God Bless,
